| Organization Description :
|
The Girls' Coalition is a member-driven consortium of Greater Boston organizations and individuals committed to expanding and enhancing high-quality services, resources, and opportunities for girls that embody a research-based and practice-proven understanding of girls' unique strengths, needs, and perspectives. To support its members in pursuing these goals, the Girls' Coalition acts as a resource and clearinghouse for networking and convening opportunities, training and professional development, and public education and advocacy. Their activities include hosting networking/training events on a wide variety of topics related to girls; running a listserv that functions as a calendar of events regarding the local "girls' world;" maintaining a resource-rich web site; and production of a professional journal that explores a topic such as girls and juvenile justice or girls and science from the perspective of researchers, practitioners, funders, and girls to promote “best practices”. Membership is open to anyone interested in supporting girls' healthy development. At the moment, membership is free, but starting in summer 2003, there will be a graduated member fee. |
